Information and Communication Technology
Levels 4 & 5

Program Overview

The program will introduce students to the technologies that handle information and enable communication. A key feature is the incorporation of industry certification courses as part of the curriculum. Students are provided with both a strong theoretical foundation as well as industry relevant skills in the various technologies related to ICT.

Information and Communication Technology Program

The diploma and advanced diploma program is designed for those students seeking a two-year rather than four-year degree. The program stand alone but may also be the foundation for further study at the bachelor’s level. The program at AIES are meant to be taken in four semesters and consist of 60 credit hours.

First Semester

ITCP 101 - Introduction to Architecture of Computer Systems | 3 credits
ITCP 121 - Introduction to Programming of Object Oriented Notions Using Java | 3 credits
ITCP 201 - Programming and Object Oriented Concepts Using Java 2 | 3 credits
ENG 101 - Critical Reading and Writing | 3 credits
ENG 110 - Writing in Organizations | 3 credits

Second Semester

ITCP 212 - Modern System Design Foundations | 3 credits
ITCP 230 - System Modelling in Object Oriented Design and Analysis | 3 credits
ITCP 249 - Data Structures and Algorithms | 3 credits
ITCP 314 - Introduction to mobile development | 3 credits
PHIL 102 - Critical Thinking | 3 credits

Program duration: Two semesters. Each semester is 4 months long with approximately 40 hours per week.

Assessment methods: In order to complete the program successfully, students will be required to pass all subjects and achieve an overall passing grade.

Certification: To be awarded the certificate you must satisfactorily complete all written contributions. Successful students will receive a Certificate, awarded by the Board of Studies of AIES. A transcript detailing the course will be issued to successful students.

First Semester

ITCP 405 - Object Oriented Software Engineering: Analysis and Design | 3 credits
ITCP 422 - Object Oriented Software Engineering: Implementation and Management | 3 credits
ITCP 264 - Multimedia Web Development | 3 credits
ITCP 355 - Operating Systems | 3 credits
ITCP 394 - Client Server Systems | 3 credits
