This course examines the biological basis of behavior, focusing on the relationship between the brain, nervous system, and behavior. This course covers topics such as the structure and function of the nervous system, neural communication, the role of neurotransmitters, and the biological mechanisms underlying sensation, perception, emotion, learning, and memory. Students will explore how genetics, brain injury, and mental illness affect behavior, as well as the methods used by biopsychologists to study brain-behavior relationships. The course emphasizes understanding how biological processes contribute to psychological functioning.
